Nightly Prayers

Nightly Prayers

Dear Prayse,

What a weekend love. We had a trip to the ER, you weren’t even scared. With our first experience with the croup you needed some stronger meds than we had. You rolled with the punches as usual, charming everyone you came into contact with – even at midnight/1:00 am. There were no kids movies so we settled for watching people catch catfish with their hands (so random). And in the midst of Dr’s, nurses, and respiratory Dr’s,  you managed to charm the nurse into three sets of stickers – I think you may end up in sales.

It’s so funny, even while I know you don’t feel good and can see energy draining you seem to pull it out of no where to keep going. You just keep on being you, just falling asleep earlier.

Tonight I told you I wanted to pray over you to help you keep getting better. You told me that YOU wanted to pray. I started to argue with you, wanting to show you me praying over you (you’re usual asleep when I sneak into your room at night). About half a second into my protest I realized how dumb I was being.

I had to smile as you were praying, knowing that the Lord was smiling too. Your faith is so pure. I love it. This was your prayer:

“Thank you Jesus for taking away my cough.” – Note, you didn’t ask. With confidence you just thanked him for what you knew would happen.

“Please give me straight hair so I can go see Jesus and love him with all my heart.” ?? I don’t know, but you were cute. And to ask for straight hair… we’ll see what He does, but I still love your curls.

“Thank you for making all the boys handsome.” – This was the crux of why I HAD to capture this prayer. LOL. What will your Daddy think?

I love you babe. It’s a huge responsibility raising our babies. You and brother are huge blessings and Daddy and I are doing the best we can to love you two, provide for you, help you see the world the way it is and what we can do to help. It gets overwhelming sometimes, thinking your lives are literally in our hands. It’s something we can’t mess up on. And you’re our first so we’re kind of experimenting on you (sorry about that – I feel your pain though, I was the experiment with your Grandma and Grandad).

But I get glimpses into your soul like tonight though, and I walk away with a smile. I think it’s going well. I think that together, we’re figuring this out. I love you babe, keep being you.

With everything I am, I love you.

Mama

  1. Oh Prayse, I love her! :) Such a sweet, pure heart.

  2. Aunt Denise says:

Prayer…it’s the best single thing you can do for your kids. Of course we love them, but sometimes it takes more than love to get our kids thru things. But prayer…that means you’re getting God’s help and what can be better than that!
