Death and Taxes. Ooorrrr… just taxes.
Just the other day we were discussing on my Mama board taxes. Many of the girls were getting really excited – me? No way! You will never see me get excited over taxes and seeing in one place all the money the government has taken and the looming possibility of having to pay more. Ugh!
We saw our accountant on church on Sunday and were talking about life in general. I love our accountant and his wife (we tried doing the H&R Block thing for a few years, after owing the government $2,500 more this year b/c of their mistake I figured a one hour computer class isn’t going to cut it for someone doing our taxes). But I was reminded again of taxes. Yuck!
Last night after getting the mail and seeing all of the papers coming in having to do with taxes – well of course I was reminded of taxes, and the semi-bad attitude kept creeping back in.
This morning’s devotional was from Romans 13: 1-7. It spoke and discussed how nobody was in power in government unless God had given them that power, that authority. To be against those in authority is to be against God… Maaaaaannnnnn…. I could see where this was going and didn’t really want to read much further. Then just as I predicted, there it was.
This is also why you pay taxes. Rules are working for God and give their time to their work. Pay everyone, then, what you owe. If you owe any kind of tax, pay it. Show respect and honor to them all.
Oh we pay it alright!
But, okay, fine, lesson learned – I need to check my attitude at the door. It’s a fact of life, it’s about respect – and I need to start working on my negativity toward this particular subject. Got it Lord.
Who says the Bible isn’t relevant to today?

The Bible is so relevant today. God has a way of throwing “hints” our way when we need to change something!
It is amazing to me how often the Bible reaches right out to me! It is so relevant to my life.
