It Only Takes One
I have had a good year at work, some projects that I have been working on for a really long time have come to fruition. I usually play a behind the scenes role, as I’ve mentioned. But I have been mentioned in some Thoughts of the Day that our CEO.
I received an email today from an individual out of our corporate office in Philadelphia – he is a programmer who I have never met or worked with. He sent a series of these emails to me and CC’d our CEO.
“Tiffany Adams, the gal who scored big: A…, W…, L…. etc. I need to know how she did all those. Admiration to Tiffany!”
“Tiffany should host a workshop to tell the success stories to K… (our company). I believe many people would be so interested to hear them. They can be saved into Business case studies in K… whitepapers, webinar or potcast library. It is the K,,, history being made. It would make K… feel more proud about our products, solutions and services. Also it would allow outside world know more about what K… can offer.”
“Dear Tiffany,
I think I can understand why you get emotional by my simple words. Sales job is the toughest job I think in the world. That’s why it should be the most rewarding as well. It also means lot and lot of effort.
I watched you at the world conference at the A… speech. You are amazing when introducing and helping the A… gentleman with the HR Dare:-)
I hope I can get chance to work with you sometime soon.”
It meant the world to me – when I received that first email I was in tears. It really sometimes only does take one person, one angel in disguise. I have of course had many people who mean a lot say their congratulations. My boss is actually getting a lot better at legitimately telling me I’m important to the team – it only took four years
But this – this was a first and it blew me away. I owe him and haven’t been able to get it off my mind. He doesn’t KNOW me! But he took it upon himself to sing my praises to our CEO. Our CEO who the longest conversation I’ve had with in four years was him to compliment me on doing the limbo! What a way to make an impression huh?
But anyway – I am touched. Genuinely. Truly. Touched. I want to be more like him.
