Let Freedom Ring
You can’t simply let the 4th go by without nar a word. We just can’t. I have a client in Canada who I talk to once a day, minimum. We have daily huddles with them, plus anything else that pops up. We were speaking before the holiday, and right after Canada Day. He mentioned that he always admires us and the pride we have in our country, our parades with the flags, all of it. I kept thinking about that statement the past few days. It’s ironic because I feel we should have more price in our country, more recognition for those who serve it, and more days to stop and think about why we get a day to celebrate. As I sat holding my freaked out daughter last night (the fireworks were “LOUD Mama! LOUD!”), watching the sky light up I was in tears. Now mind you, I’m of sentimental nature in the first place. But when you add the 4th of July, Fireworks, a country song about how “I’m There” paired with phone calls of families of service men and women calling in to talk about their loved ones serving our country and how proud they are of them and that they’re the proud Daddy of a 9lb 4 oz baby but hasn’t yet met him…. it’s not only a fireworks, but waterworks as well.
Seriously though, I do not have personal family members who are serving, but many friends and family members of friends. And even without that, I’m still proud of my country and of those who are serving it.
Thank You.
Prayse is proud too. Here is the video of her leading the pack during their 4th of July Parade. The rest of the weekend she kept saying “Fireworks, fireworks! Boom! Boom! Boom!” and “Happy 4th of July!” (or something to that effect).

She is so sweet. I love how she runs to you the moment she sees you. “Forget the parade, that’s my mama!”
I absolutely agree about the whole waterworks thing! I tear up at the fireworks, service men/women messages, and a good country song! She is absolutely adorable!
I used to live in Nebraska before I moved to New York for college!!! My sister still lives there and is getting married August 1 in Fremont!! What a small world!
I know what you mean. The 4th always makes me extra sentimental, if I let myself think about the men and women that fought and are fighting for us. And the songs on the radio…. tearjerkers.
