Imagination Station

I am such a Mom. I am. I really am. No kid is as cute as mine. No kid is as developed as mine. No kid could possibly be doing the things that mine is doing right now!! :) Until, that is, I read Baby Center or do a bit of research! Yesterday Prayse and I spent a couple of hours at the Children’s Museum. We had been inside for the majority of the weekend, a cold front was coming, and it was time to get out and run around! She loved it as always, we were playing in the Pets Vet portion which she loved because she kept getting to play with lots of “Abbey! Abbey!’s” (puppies). She then told me that the puppies and kitties needed “wa-wa” (water). So we pretended to fill the jars and bowls with water from the sink while she went and gave them to the animals to let them drink. The whole time I was thinking “they certainly don’t play imaginary games at this age!” “She is so advanced! I have to write about this and brag!!”

Ahem – http://www.babycenter.com/0_milestone-chart-13-to-18-months_1496589.bc

Oh well, she is still brilliant! :) See?

hard-hat

No clue what says “brilliant” about the picture, but I just wanted to share it again. Speaking of imagination…

I believe someone may have switched out my husband without telling me. This morning I got to sleep in. Honest to goodness, sleep in. I did not have a little bug-a-boo tugging on my hand with a sweet little “Hi!” I got sleep. THEN later that morning R walked in and said, “Hey, why don’t you choose a day this week. I’ll pick Prayse up from daycare, you use the free movie pass we have and go see a movie.” Uhhh…. I must have had the dumbest look on my face. I couldn’t even answer him for a minute because it took me that long to process what he said.  I must have been imagining it. But no, it was my husband, he was offering me a night out, and I didn’t even have to ask! Then my best non-family friend sent me a text asking if I wanted to have a kid-free dinner sometime this week. Voila! A girl’s night!!

I am certainly not over-worked at the moment. Let’s face it, I took the majority of December off (and proud of it!). But life is bound to get psycho again, because that is just the way it is, and I am certainly not going to turn down a rare opportunity like this!

I am also (this is turning out to be another random post, dang it – I just have nothing that interesting to say tonight) trying to keep myself accountable for my 2009 goals/resolutions. So tomorrow we are having Chinese Pot Roast for dinner. I put it all together and it is in the Crock Pot ready for tomorrow. Here’s the Recipe

Chinese Pot Roast

  • 3 – lb boneless beef pot roast
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 T oil
  • 2 large onions, chopped (I personally can’t stand onions – I’m only doing one)
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 c. soy sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 t. ground ginger
  1. Dip roast in flour and brown on both sides in oil in saucepan. Place in slow cooker.
  2. Top with onions, salt, and pepper.
  3. Combine soy sauce, water, and ginger. Pour over meat.
  4. Cover. Cook on High 10 minutes. Reduce heat to Low and cook 8-10 hours.
  5. Slice and  serve with rice.
  1. thanks for stopping by…and look you get to see a movie…lovely how that works out for you! your daughter is adorable…oh, and brilliant :)

  2. My kid is babbling, but not really saying a lot of (recognizable) words. But he’s really strong, and man does he figure out how things work – fast! I try not to worry too much, so I avoid reading a lot about the milestones at sites like that, too. And hope that if he’s really behind, that we’ll notice it (hubby’s a 2-time parent, me only once).
