Goin on a trip

Not very far, but I am so excited to go see my family this holiday! My Grandparents haven’t seen Prayse since her first birthday! Prayse started walking at 9.5 months – and I have been home to H-Town once since then. Very much so time for me to be at home for a little while.

Thanksgiving will be fun, I have cousins who have come in from Arizona and California who will also be there. It will be fun to see them, but who I am most looking forward to spending time with is my cousins who live a whole hour away from me, in Omaha. Crazy isn’t it? Their two kiddos are closer in age to Prayse’s and I just love them.

Growing up – well, more so after the growing stage – I never got to know that part of my family. There must have been something that happened in our family that I don’t remember or was too young to comprehend at the time (don’t worry, I’m not airing dirty laundry – I don’t even know what it is). But they just stopped coming. They stopped coming to any family function and would instead come see my Grandparents after we all had left. There were a few times where we’d see them, they would come to Easter dinner but then leave right after dinner… things like that. But I just never got the opportunity to get to know them as adults. It makes me sad – especially when I go see Raymonn’s family. It is nothing but love. He doesn’t even know the names of all of his cousins and cousins’ kids but it just doesn’t matter because they are so so so excited to see each other. I want that.

When Chad and Kelly moved to Omaha and more so when I got pregnant with Prayse we reconnected. I love it. I never realized how similar we are. We differ in a few ways obviously as no one is or parents exactly the same, but Kelly has quickly become a rock in my life. When we were having problems with our former daycare she provided guidance and was one of the people who kept coming back and assuring me that I was a good Mama and that Prayse was a great baby. But anyway, our lives are still just as crazy and we aren’t able to get together and let our kiddos play so we have to go a few hours away just to do that. It’s worth it.

It’s especially worth it to sit back and watch my Grandad watching his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. The smile on his face, the love in his heart, the contendedness and knowing that parts of our family that haven’t been together for a long time are now coming… I can’t wait to be a part of that.

  1. Tiffany-
I had a ton of fun w/you guys today! I am very thankful for you in my life as well. I feel like we have been family forever even though we’ve just gotten to know each other more in the last couple years! Let’s hangout more often! You are a great mama and Prayse is lucky to have you!
