I Have To Get This Off My Chest

Before I can sit down and get to work.

I had a prospect call me Thursday late afternoon and tell me that they were going to be sending a list of follow up questions that they expect to have answered and sent back by first thing Monday morning. His direct quote, “We’ll make sure you get them on Friday so you’ll have the weekend to work on it.”

This is what I WANT to say: “Excuse me? Take your list of questions and shove them. I have spent hours and hours working on proposals, getting ready for an onsite meeting (not the one I went to, I sent other people on my team to this one), multiple follow-ups and deliverables. I work my ass off for you people and you act like it’s a good thing you’re ‘giving me the weekend to work on this.’ Guess what? I have a life too. I have a family and dang it, I want some ME TIME.” Of course then I’d for sure lose a potential very big deal. Neither Wall Street investors nor my savings account can afford that at this point in time.

What I had to say, “Great. Looking forward to it. You’ll have them by Monday.”

There are times I want to throw the sale down the drain just to say what is on my mind. Unfortunately I know what a horrible idea it is and will never do it. Just once though, just once I want to give them “weekend homework” that is impossible to track down when others are not working and I don’t know the answers. Just once I want to give them a nice “Screw You” and tell them it’s not going to happen.

Can you tell I’m annoyed???

I know that everyone else gives up their evenings, weekends, and time with family but it is getting to be a drag. I am tired of the game. Unfortunately, complaining about it is not getting the work done or the bills paid. So I’m off…

  1. I’m so sorry hun! Your weekends should be YOUR time. Hang in there babe!

  2. We are SO not moving Bailey out of her crib. She just hates her pack n play at Grandma’s house and this bed was a good deal so hopefully in six months or so she will just be able to use it at Grandma’s. At our house she will be in a crib until she’s at least ten.

She hasn’t even TRIED to climb out as far as I know, but she doesn’t fight bedtime so I guess she doesn’t mind being in there. She’s normally totally a monkey so I am surprised that she hasn’t gotten out before now.

  3. That sucks, so much..I wish you could just leave work at work, but we all know this is next to impossible.
Could you do me a flavor? Is there anyway your posts could have a date on them. When friends like me, don’t get on to every site all the time, I feel like I might comment like way late:) Pweeze, for me? luvs
