Suzy Homemaker I am Not

So Prayse is getting so independent that when we eat I can only get her to eat about half of what I have from the baby food jars before she gets frustrated. She wants to do it herself! Of course the problem with that is that undoubtedly the whole bowl ends up on the floor. Every. Single. Time.

We have been successful with steamed veggies. Strange kid, she likes her vegetables. I can only hope this trend continues. We’re still working on the fruit which I cannot understand. She LOVES the fruit from the jar but not so much fresh real fruit. So I’ve been trying to think of ways and things that she’ll eat and still get the nutrition she needs. With two teeth we’re limited. The silly thing hoards food in her cheeks (no wonder they’re so chubby, there is leftovers in there!).  At daycare they’ll find little pieces of food hours after she’s eaten, it’s like she’s just been saving them for later! So obviously she isn’t chewing much.

I’ve been checking out wholesomebabyfood.com a lot for ideas. I’d like to find something more nutritious for finger foods as well. The girl can only eat so many cheerios and Baby Mum Mums. She likes them but I’d like for her to have something that has more than rice, flour, and salt in it.

This, my friends is my first attempt at Banana Bread Sticks (teething biscuits):

Apparently when they tell you to use a loaf pan for the first hour, you should wait until you are able to go buy a loaf pan! A cake pan for the first hour doesn’t get the party started. Also, for the second hour they are in the oven I’ll put them in at 150 degrees instead of 350. I’m thinking that the extra 200 degrees of heat will make a difference!

I have never claimed to be Suzy Homemaker. I stink at housework and cooking. I cook and love finding new recipes but have to do a once over before I even attempt them. If they have too many ingredients I don’t even bother reading them, I know my limits. I don’t sew or do crafts. Not because I don’t want to, I just am not good at it. I’m not good at any of it. I wish I was. I wish I had the house where anyone could drop by at any time. They certainly could, but they would see dirty dishes in the sink amongst other things that I’m too embarrassed to share even online :)

All I can say is that I’ll work on it. I’ll work on keeping the house cleaner, doing laundry more often, and making dinner. I also refuse to let baby teething biscuits get the best of me. I am going to keep trying. I will prevail! :)

I’m sure those things would soften up if kept in your cheeks for awhile. ;)

Im SO with you on the house. Im trying… and I DONT work. Hang in there.

As for the cooking… when it comes to baking, you must be EXACT and follow the recipe to a T. Cooking is much more forgiving.

The thing with all those things is you just have to keep trying. Do what you know you can and then try new stuff a bit at a time. You’ll get it all!

I’m there on the homemaker thing too. I wish I was better. I also don’t attempt recipes with a lot of ingredients.

I have so done that and I am um, “mini martha”. So, it’s not you. It just happens. I did dog biscuits once that were just um, inedible, even for a dog. That’s saying a lot.

DD used to do the “chipmunk” thing when she was a little one! She especially loved to chew bacon like it was gum or something. LOL

Lordy, I’ve botched so many recipes, it’s too embarrassing to admit even to myself. You are not alone!! :) And I’m TOTALLY with ya on the house. I’m such a slob. :\
