It’s Time to Stop the Hurt
I’ve realized lately that the blogosphere is a microcosm of the world. It is filled with people from all walks of life. As a blogger, I am just a drop in the bucket of this diverse community. In reading blogs, I’ve found stories of hope, inspiration, humor, and joy, and I’ve tried to contribute just a little to that.
But as in the world, the blogosphere is also contaminated with negativity. Blogging as a medium allows one to say things that we might not otherwise say to someone’s face. Unkind words, veiled and not-so-veiled references, and hateful remarks are all too common in this world. I myself may have contributed to this negativity, either through this blog, or in real life.
Anne Frank once wrote, “How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” It is with that thought that I’ve decided to join the Kind Blog movement.
Henceforth, this blogger:
1. Will not knowingly write or publish hurtful remarks toward another person.
2. Will not accept hateful comments from readers.
3. Will not acknowledge or participate in written attacks on other people or groups.
I believe that one person CAN make a difference toward making the world a more positive place. The negativity will stop here, with me.
I am so sad that people are hurt. I think this world is filled with such kind, loving, and good individuals. I also think that all of us, in some way, shape or form have a moment when stress, depression, fatigue and every other negative influence mount to the point where we step outside of ourselves and morph into someone we are not. It is so easy to succumb to everything that we have going on in our lives to attack other people. I know that I do this. It’s not really who I am, but I feel the weight of so many issues that I come full force with my claws out. If anyone met me for the first time in those moments they would think I was a heinous witch. But I’m not, I just lashed out instead of hitting my knees first to pray for wisdom, help, peace, anything to get me through the next 30 minutes.
I think sometimes it is done because we feel that there is no other way perhaps? We are so much “in the throes” of the situation (any situation) that we have a hard time stepping outside of it to see if perhaps there is another way. I realize that sometimes things are said and done and there is no going back. It does happen. I will however join this Kind Blog movement because I do want to make a difference, I do want to contribute positiveness to a world that is already filled with people hating each other because of the color of their skin, the religion they have chose, the lifestyle that they live. There is too much of this! We have to support each other and encourage each other whenever we can, otherwise why are we here?

You, my girl, are very kind–do NOT doubt yourself. However, you, nor I, are perfect and that is why we are blessed to be able to hit our knees and know we are forgiven by a God who loves us more than we can ever imagine. (I love you, too)
