I Have a SIX Month Old! (updated)
Six months… that’s half a year. My baby celebrated her first half birthday on Monday. It is so hard to believe that half of a year ago we were in the hospital. Wow.
Here are here stats from our Dr. visit:
Head: 43.5 cm = 80th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs, 4 ounces = 75th percentile
Length: 27″ = 90th percentile
Apparently breastfed babies surge ahead in the weight department and then slow down around this age because the consistency of my milk has changed while formula stays the same. They all end up in the same place so I guess it doesn’t matter. All I know is that my tall girl is wearing 12 mo clothes!
Speaking of which, this little thing is strong. She beat me up. The other morning while we were nursing she got startled and out of nowhere this little arm came flying up with a little fingernail right into my eye. Yes, INTO my eye. She got a chunk of my eye. Can we say “ouch”? Thank goodness for the Dr who gave me some pain pills, a tetanus shot, antibiotics and some gunk stuff to put in my eye. All of this after she called two other people into the room to look at the gouge in my eyeball. I have apparently made her Top 5. At least I made someone’s Top 5 in something!
So we’ve been trying to introduce food to Miss P. Trying being the operative word here. So far she does not like Oatmeal, Pears, or Apples. I’ve tried both the pears and apples, they’re good!! Why she doesn’t like them I don’t know. We’ll try apples a few more times and then the quest is on to find something my daughter will eat. Did anyone else have trouble with this at six months? It seems all of the babes I know are loving this food thing. Miss P is the only one holding out at this point!
I forgot something very important that the Dr told me. It appears that Praysalyn is losing her blue eyes. I know it’s not that huge of a deal but I almost wanted to cry! My blue eyed babe won’t be blue eyed much longer he said. Sigh, Raymonn’s genes win out again. ![]()

Grow baby grow.
You might try and mix a little breastmilk with the fruits. It would be a familiar taste with a new taste and maybe not as “scary”.
Doogal likes PEAS of all things. Hello?

Two Lines On a Stick Says:
I have heard that most breastfed babies like bananas, because they are sweet and thick like the milk. No other advice because Bailey would eat a house if I could put it on a spoon for her.

I think the idea of eating is more important at this point. Kennedy would like something one day, and not even try it the next, oh what am I saying…she still does that. I’ve read that you have to present something 7 times for a kid to get used to it…probably not true for all kids, but I’d try a few more times.

Hi girl! I am here, promise. Just busy and such. Ryker man likes rice cereal. That is all I have to offer, because that is all he has had. oh and applesauce with it.
My secret recipe, is some rice cereal, breastmilk/formula, two baby spoons of applesauce and warm water. He eats it like a champ!! I miss you so much!

Gabe loves peas, carrots, squash and pumpkin. He likes banana better when I mash a real one with my finger and give it to him. His least favorites are apples and pears. Maybe try a veggie next.
