Clear Epic

I got to wear a dress, a sexy black little number. That in and of itself would have made the evening a success! I also have to say, that Victoria Secret is such a good friend. She can make you feel so sexy Vicki knows what a girl needs and that there are just some nights when you need to be a wife first and a mama when you get home. A sexy man, a great dinner, a good glass of wine, and a fun martini for desert make the perfect combination for the first date night. We may need to make this a monthly or at least bi-monthly tradition. Because as a good friend reminded me, marriage takes work.

We walk into marriage thinking that it is going to be a cake walk. What could be so hard about it? I’m just living with the man I love right? Exactly, you have to live with a MAN! And I thought that having 7 female roommates in college was hard, I had no idea. I love you honey, but men don’t always pick up what we’re laying down. Literally and figuratively. I realize I need to communicate WAY better. Would I love to assume that my husband would know that helping with the housework will make me feel more relaxed because it’s quickly getting out of control and I can’t keep up with both the house and the baby and work starting next week? Yes, it would be awesome if he just “knew” that. The reality is that he doesn’t, so I need to take the three minutes to explain it to him (and yes, it will probably have to happen more than once). One thing I have to say about the hubby, he does listen. And, if I do ask for help more than likely I’ll get it, at least in the short term but then there is no harm in simply asking again instead of getting irritated. As the same good friend also told me, “Expectations that are not communicated cannot be met.”

I need to work on that.
