For My Fellow Non-Dairy-Eating-Breastfeeding Mamas

Cute face

The picture has nothing to do with the post, but she’s so darn cute I can’t help myself…
I’ve long thought about trying to get organized and being able to be the “I’ll have dinner on the table at 6:00″ type of wife. First off, we don’t have a table. Second, Raymonn isn’t home until 7:00 - 7:30, and third, what’s this word organized mean?

Well Luanne has inspired me to at least TRY to have a weekly menu. Hopefully it will cut down on the grocery bill and we’ll eat a heck of a lot healthier. I know that Girl has a weekly menu that she blogged about (you may think I’m a stalker which is only partly true, I’m not the only one! She’s quite fantastic as an individual and very inspiring). I also thought, while I’m at it I should post some of the successful recipes for my fellow non-dairy eating mamas. However, I’ll have do this later because my first attempt was miserably unsuccessful. I was up from 2:15 - 4:15 with a sad baby. Well, she was only sad for the first hour and then thought it would be fun to watch football instead of going back to sleep :) So, you don’t get my good and easy recipe for Honey Curry Chicken. You would think that the “curry” part would have clued me in, but don’t judge! There is 2 T of curry to 2 lbs of chicken and it was a very sweet dish! Who would have thought?

So here is what I do know:

-Soy milk will get you by, but Rice Milk is better!

-Chocolate Rice Milk is not so bad and highly recommended to take vitamins, bc, and whatever other pills you take. I am starting to take this Mother’s Milk mixture to help increase my milk supply. It’s extremely nasty tasting unless I mix it with something with tasty.

-I’ve tried Vegan Cheese, Soy Cheese, and Rice Cheese. Rice is once again the winner, but in a pinch the other two will do. Once again, I owe the Mommies my sanity for letting me know this was even out there, because sometimes you just need a pizza and you can’t make pizza without cheese!

-Breyer’s (God Bless ‘em) has a Lactose Free Vanilla ice cream for those days when you just can’t go on!

-In my freezer I have a soy ice cream as well as soy yogurt. I’ll let you know how those go. I’m trying hard to figure out this breastfeeding thing and I think we must be getting there because the babe certainly isn’t lacking any chins :)

Oooh, I inspired you :) I want your recipes girl, like yesterday! Just kidding, but I do want them when you get the chance.
I just texted you, but I have a dining room table for you if you want it? It is a great table. Matt had it before and it seats 4 comfortably, but we needed a tad bigger and found a great one at Mrs. B’s, so we bought it and love it. But, now we have this other great one chillin’ in the basement. It is totally yours if you want it. I just don’t have chairs for it, we still use those :) muah, hugs!!!

Boy, I need to get a weekly menu too, I’m such a slacker about proper ‘planning’ on some things.

Glad you found the chocolate soy helps with the more milk tincture, ITA that stuff is NAAASSSTY! (I used to mix it with OJ, and it was still pretty horrid, so I’ll have to use your suggestion next time!)

BTW, I always love seeing pictures of Praise, GAH, she is such a beautiful beautiful girl. You and R are in serious trouble!

We do weekly meal planning strictly for the money saving aspect of it. If you want to switch recipes, I’d be happy too. The soy ice cream isnt as good as the bryers, but if she’s dairy intolerant rather than lactose intolerant, it’ll get you by! I agree that the rice milk is better than soy. Land o Lakes makes a lactose free milk that is cows milk and is YUMMY! Again, this only works if she’s lactos intolerant and not milk intolerant. :)

    Tiff,
I drink & cook with Lactaid milk. It is real milk without the lactose so it tastes like the real stuff!! With Alyssa I went without any dairy for a whole year, but for Myles thankfully I found out how good this milk is. Sometimes you just need a nice cold glass of milk, say with some choc. chip cookies or something!! :) Kudos, to the Breyer’s lactose free ice cream! I love it!!
