Body Image

It is hard to believe that almost three weeks has passed! Prayse is growing every day, we went to Milk Works and weighed her on Wednesday, WITH her clothes and diaper on (this is very important to note) she weighed 10 lbs 1.8 oz. Wow. Girlfriend is definitely getting enough to eat :)  We like them healthy though, and as Chelsea told me the other day, Prayse is just making sure that I get toned arms very quickly!

What also surprises me is how I still am taken back when I realize that my belly is gone. Now, I am no where near pre-pregnancy status. There is a lot of toning that needs to happen before I can make that statement, and the pre-preggo jeans still don’t zip up… but we’ve got time for all of that. However, even in the shower last night I looked down and was almost startled to see my toes. It’s amazing how we get to used to a certain body image and how difficult it can be to make the transition. Don’t hate me for this, but I really kind of miss the belly. I think it’s a combination of two things: 1- Pregnancy seems to be the only time when our culture finds it acceptable for a woman to gain weight and think that we’re still sexy.  2- Miss Prayse was all mine and 100% protected.

I don’t miss how I felt the last few days of being pregnant, but I do kind of miss the tummy and knowing she was in there all safe and sound. I miss feeling her move and kick. I LOVE her being here even more, but it was kind of special to have her all to myself.

You feelings are totally understandable. I missed being pregnant too after I had my kiddos. Heck, I miss being pregnant now a year after having Allie! It’s a wonderful experience and like you said, the baby we’re carrying is all ours and protected. So that is definitely something to miss.

Way to go Miss Prayse on your growing! She must be very well fed. Go mommy! :o)

I know how you feel. It’s a shame society makes us feel this way, but I feel even worse b/c I let it get to me.

And I worry more about Miss Hannah now that she’s here…ack!
